Two new deacons for Sodalitium
Ayaviri, 17 (NE - eclesiales.org). Yesterday, two members of the Sodalitium
Christianae Vitae were ordained deacons at a Mass presided by the
Prelate-Bishop of Ayaviri Mons. Martín Schmalhausen, SCV.
Miguel Alberto
Coquelet Castagnino (Peruvian) and Alexandre Arosa Sobral (Brazilian), both
34 years of age, received the imposition of hands from the Prelate Bishop at
this first degree of Holy Orders.
The Eucharistic celebration began at 11
a.m. in Ayaviri Cathedral and friends and family of both of the new deacons
were present, as well as numerous members of the Sodalitium of Christian
Life.
In his homily, Mons. Schmalhausen spoke directly to the two new deacons,
urging them: "be extremely grateful to the Lord for this outstanding gift
that is your vocation; it is not by your own merit that you have received
it. It is the fruit of God's love for each one of you. Never cease to
wonder at it and to be overawed by it." The Prelate Bishop of Ayaviri
continued to exhort them: "You have truly been entrusted with a beautiful
ministry, which in your case will lead towards priesthood: serve in the
proclamation of the gospel, at the altar and to the poor through charity;
that is to say, be of service in the holy mysteries and serve your brethren
in their concrete needs. You must be fully and completely available to this
deaconate, in the same way that you are already fully available through your
commitments."
